SilentSuite is an encrypted sync service for the three things a phone keeps in step: your calendar, your address book, and your task list. Everything is encrypted on the device before it uploads, using the Etebase protocol, so the server holds blobs it cannot open. There is a web app, an Android app, and a small desktop bridge that speaks CalDAV and CardDAV to Thunderbird, Apple Calendar, Evolution, and Outlook. The server, the bridge, and the web client are AGPL-licensed, and self-hosting is a Docker deploy.

Our take
The bridge is what makes this worth a look. Most encrypted sync asks you to move into its own app; SilentSuite keeps the encryption on your device and still hands your normal desktop calendar a plain CalDAV endpoint to talk to, which is the difference between a tool you try and one you keep. The catch is coverage: there is no native iOS sync, so an iPhone in your setup means the web app in a browser and nothing landing in the built-in calendar or contacts. It is a young project, and the paid tier is what funds the hosted side. Pick it if you want EteSync-style encrypted sync that is still being worked on, and either self-host it or pay for the hosting. Skip it while Apple devices are the centre of your setup.
