Obscura VPN splits the privacy problem across two independent operators. Obscura handles the entry hop and sees your IP but not your destination; Mullvad runs the exit hop and sees your destination but not who you are. Traffic between the two is WireGuard-encrypted end to end, with a custom QUIC-based obfuscation layer on top. Signup requires no account or email.

Our take
The architecture here is structurally different from a conventional VPN’s trust model: Obscura cannot log your activity even if it wanted to, because the entry hop never sees destination data. That design was validated in a Cure53 audit completed in December 2025, which found no high- or critical-severity issues. The practical limit is platform coverage: the service launched on macOS and expanded to iOS then Android, so Windows and Linux users are not yet supported. A solid pick for Mac and mobile users who want multi-hop without assembling it themselves.
