Our take

Not a piece of software so much as the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s library of guides, tools, and how-tos, and it earns its place by being a trustworthy starting point rather than a product. The limitation is exactly that: it teaches and points, it does not encrypt your files or block your trackers itself. Bookmark it as the place to learn what to do and which tools to trust; come for the education, then go install the actual tools.

Measures the security configuration of the tool's own website, not the privacy of the product itself. A strong tool can still score low here.
