Our take
PhotoPrism is the choice for people who want to own their photo library outright: self-hosted, with strong automatic tagging and search that rivals the cloud giants, and no monthly bill. The honest catch is that self-hosting is the whole job, you provide and secure the server, and there is no turnkey hosted option yet, so privacy here means responsibility. Pick it if you already run a home server or NAS and want your photos off other people’s clouds entirely.
