Friendly Captcha is a managed, invisible CAPTCHA from a German company. Rather than asking a visitor to solve anything, it runs a background proof-of-work puzzle in the browser and scores anonymized signals to tell humans from bots. It sets no cookies and stores no persistent browser data. The service is built to be GDPR-compliant.

Our take

Friendly Captcha is the pick for a webmaster who wants the privacy-first, no-puzzle experience without standing up a server. Because the challenge is invisible and runs in the background, your visitors never stop to read warped text, and you do not have to ask for tracking consent. Being EU-based, it also keeps the data question on this side of the Atlantic, which matters if a US transfer is your concern with the incumbent. The honest catch is that it is proprietary and paid, so you cannot inspect the code or self-host it. Pick it if you want a hands-off, GDPR-friendly widget and a bill is acceptable. Choose ALTCHA or mCaptcha instead if open source or running it yourself matters more.
