Cromite is a Chromium fork with privacy and security enhancements, built-in ad blocking and DNS-over-HTTPS support. Forked from the now-discontinued Bromite project in 2023, it is the actively maintained successor and is available for Android, Windows and Linux.

Our take
The actively maintained successor to the discontinued Bromite, giving Android (and now desktop) a Chromium build with ad blocking and DNS-over-HTTPS baked in. The honest context is that it is a one-fork-among-several situation and you are trusting a smaller maintainer to keep pace with Chromium’s relentless security updates, which is a real burden. A good choice for a hardened Chromium on Android specifically; on iOS or if you prefer the Gecko engine, it does not apply.
