Collabora Online is an open-source collaborative office suite derived from LibreOffice, supporting real-time co-editing of documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in a browser. It integrates directly with Nextcloud, ownCloud, Seafile, and other self-hosted platforms, so your files stay on infrastructure you control.

Our take
If you are already running Nextcloud or a similar self-hosted cloud, Collabora Online is the most complete office-editing layer available for it, offering strong LibreOffice format compatibility without sending documents to a third-party service. The free Community Edition (CODE) is well-suited to small teams and individual self-hosters. The practical limitation is that deployment requires comfort with containers and server administration. This is not a consumer product. For organisations already committed to self-hosting, that is an acceptable cost for full data sovereignty over office editing.
